Angelika Connolly is a fictional original character who is portrayed by Agyness Deyn. I am neither Angelika or Agyness Deyn.
Name: Angelika 'Angie' Connolly
Age: 26
Universe: Bloodrayne (Video Games)
FC/OC: Original Character
Appearance: Angelika, or Angie, as she prefers to be called, is hard to identify by gender at first glance. An extreme masculine exception to the female gender, the girl not only looks masculine, but carries herself in a masculine way also. It’s only at very certain angles, or in very rare moments, such as when she smiles or laughs that any sort of femininity shows.
Angie has white blonde hair that is very, very short, and usually in two hairstyles: spiked or not spiked. With bright blue eyes and tanned skin, she certainly isn’t lacking in what some would consider the good genes department. Usually dressed in long sleeved, button up shirts, she always makes sure to button her sleeves at the cuff, and that her arms to the wrists are covered, along with buttoning the shirt up to her neck as well. If not button up shirts, she’s in long sleeved underarmor, and some t-shirt with a smartass saying on it. She pairs the ensemble off with jeans of any kind, plain black Nikes, and oddly enough, two heavy metal chains that hook into the belt loops and cross over the back of her jeans, even if they aren’t proper for her current setting or location.
Her reason for covering up from neck to wrists to ankles is a simple reason, though it’s one she hates for people to find out. Almost all of her body is covered in scars, which are stark against her tan skin. They start from just below her collar bone, and criss cross, mar, and tarnish almost every inch of her body down to just above her wrists and even farther down to just above her ankles. Most of them are scars from whips and blades of some kind, though some are much worse.
Gathered at her wrists, the bends of her elbows, and the occasional batch along her inner thighs are areas so covered in white scar tissue that there is no visible untouched skin in the immediate area. Her largest scar is the result of a horrible burn, which runs from one shoulder blade, down her back, around to her stomach and down the front of her left leg, ending just above the knee. All together, her scars are a rather horrific sight, if anyone ever gets to see them.
Personality: Angie has two main aspects of her personality, and then the two aspects branch off into what could be considered two completely different people. Those aspects are ‘drinking’ and ‘sober’. Even though it was only recently that she fell off the wagon after almost five years of being sober, she’s quickly reverted back into how she was before, as if she had never gone sober at all.
While drinking, Angie is everyone’s favorite party girl. She’s flirty, quick witted, and always seems to be happy. It’s only in rare instances when she thinks of her past, or has to talk about her scars or how she got them that this fades, leaving her a rather quiet, and wooden sort of person, almost as if she’s just a talking shell walking around. Her cure for this is to usually change the subject as quickly as she can, and to take a few more drinks of whatever alcoholic beverage is on hand.
When sober, she’s a completely different person. Angie becomes twitchy, moody, quiet, and very quick to anger. Her temper while sober is almost legendary, and it won’t take much for her to get into a fight, or some sort of confrontation with whoever she thinks deserves it. To ponder if it’s a smart move or not is something that never crosses her mind.
She does, of course, have plenty of bad side.
She hides behind a front of immaturity and fun going motivations that is easily strengthened by her alcohol abuse, though Angie’s true emotions just barely simmer beneath the surface, ready to explode and boil over at any time. She hasn’t learned how to understand and move on from what was done to her while she was being held prisoner, and all of her anger and hatred and self loathing and every other emotion that she feels at the situation is bottled up with a loose cap. While the alcohol and fighting against supernatural creatures is enough to keep everything bottled up, it doesn’t stop the fact that it won’t take much to set her off.
Angie is in complete denial of there being anything wrong with her at all, as well. To herself, she is not a ticking time bomb, nor does she have any control, alcohol, or anger issues. She is completely normal in her eyes, and even if she will be the first to admit that she is insane, it’s hard to know if this is actually true or not, or if she even views it as a bad thing.
History: The majority of Angie’s life has been rather boring. Born in Los Angeles, California in 1982, the girl’s life was normal growing up. Two parents, a house that they really couldn’t afford, and the occasional pet. As Angie got older, she found hobbies like skateboarding and playing guitar, and eventually, she found girls. It was when this fact came out to her parents that her normal, happy life was turned upside down and gutted. Unable to deal with the fact that their daughter was gay, Angie’s parents disowned her at the ripe age of seventeen, effectively kicking her out on the street. While things didn’t exactly go downhill after this, they did get harder.
Hopping from city to city, doing any odd job she could find to keep surviving, Angie eventually found herself in New York City a few months later, working as a guitarist in a not so stellar rock band, and dating a girl who was addicted to smack. As expected with the usual clichéd story, it was the girl that got her in trouble. One of their dates turned into an ambush, and Angelika was cruelly introduced to the darker side of her world, a side that involved vampires, demons, and any other monster that goes bump in the night. Having been sold to one of the city’s most powerful vampires, a female named Seraphina, Angie quickly went from a barely more than homeless guitar player to little more than a chew toy.
For the next two years, her body was abused and broken, while her veins became feeding grounds for any vampire that worked under Seraphina, until her body from the neck down, from wrists to ankles, was a mass of scars. Somehow, through all the torture, she kept her both her sanity, and her life. Eventually, she was left in the alleyways of New York City for dead, but none of them imagined that Angie had such hatred in her for her captors and what had been done to her that she would somehow manage to drag herself to a hospital. Faking amnesia, she stayed for as long as needed, before leaving against doctor’s orders. Angie did her best to scrap up some semblance of the normal life she once left, while trying to drown her past in a barrage of alcohol. Some things just wouldn’t stay locked away, however, and she eventually taught herself to fight with a pair of chains, before taking on any citizen of New York City’s supernatural world that she could reach. It was a scant few years after this that her life again changed, but this time, for the better.
It was late one night in an alleyway that the half vampire redheaded bombshell stormed into her life, leaving her disoriented and confused, demanding that she tell her where Seraphina was. Going by the name of Rayne, Angie’s new ally was dead set on killing every half sibling of hers that she could track down, and Seraphina was next on her list. Angie couldn’t have asked for a better miracle. For the next three years, they worked together, forming a plan to not only kill Seraphina, but take down her entire system, and kill anyone that worked under her as well.
Somehow, somewhere along the way of executing the plan, Rayne not only forced Angie to stop drinking, but the two fell in love. While neither thing halted or put their plan to kill Seraphina on hiatus in any way, it did bring them closer together, something that was priceless as their mission became more and more dangerous with each passing day. When the time came to finally take Seraphina down, however, Rayne carefully drugged Angie to knock her unconscious, and left her at the apartment they shared. When Angie awoke, she found a note that had both Rayne’s apologies and explanations, along with both a trinket of Seraphina’s for proof that the vampiress was dead, and promises to one day return.
For a short while, Angie hated Rayne. Hated her for killing Seraphina without her, and hated her for leaving. After a few months, she eventually came to accept what the dhampir had done, and why. Perhaps, if their situations had been switched, she would have left Rayne behind for her own safety as well.
Over the next few years, Angie continued on with her usual routine, killing vampires and demons as well as she could, going on with a normal day to day life as best as she can, though this time around, she was sober. As the years passed since Rayne’s departure, however, Angie’s surprisingly consistently happy and confident personality again started to crack. What if Rayne never came back? What if she had been lying the whole time? What if the dhampir had never loved her? Unable to rid herself of the depressing thoughts, they began to plague her, and she eventually cracked. Returning to drinking, the scarred blonde quickly fell into a downward spiral, and has been there ever since.
Sample RP- Fingers fumbling over the keys in her pocket, Angie finally got a grasp on one of the many keychains that was attached to her all of three keys. Her vision blurring and world swaying as she suddenly had to regain her balance, the blonde quickly grabbed the doorjamb, doing her best to steady herself, drunken giggles escaping her lips. Starting to hum between giggles as she did her best to get what she was sure was her apartment key into one of the three locks that seemed to be swinging away and avoiding her attempts.
“~I can’t feel nothin’ at all~” She crooned, finally succeeding in opening her apartment door and stumbling in, kicking the door closed behind her. Keys dropping to the floor with a metallic thump, Angie’s legs hit the edge of her worn out and old futon that took up most of the space in the one room apartment, sending her falling into the bed. Sluggishly rolling over, the slurred singing continued, as the scarred human felt around over the edge of her bed, frantically looking for something. “~Demons and… vampires… sometimes I wonder why I even bother. Dhampir… Dhampyr. Sometimes I wonder why I need you at all.~”
Hand closing around the neck of a bottle, Angie pulled the nearly empty bottle of Jagermeister up on the bed, fumbling with the top. “~And Angie Sweet is addicted to fight. Addicted to the fight? Addicted to the fight! And addicted to the fight, she needs a little help with the agony. And the little help comes in a big glass bottle, pressed up...~” Song filtering off as she finally got the top twisted off, drunk blue eyes stared at the bottle. “Fuck it.” She muttered, before bringing the bottle to her lips, finishing off what was in it. Arm falling to her side, she stared up at the ceiling, frowning as her vision continued to swirl and dance, before starting to g black around the edges. “Can’t feel nothin’ at all.” She slurred one last time, before blacking out.
